Meghan Markle has thanked fans for tuning in to watch her new show ‘With Love, Meghan’ on Netflix. The Duchess of Sussex posted on Wednesday evening a snippet of the show on her Instagram stories with the caption: “For more recipes, fun and reasons to ‘Mmmm’, check out the show – which in just 24 hours is already in the Top 10! Thank you to all of you around the world who are tuning in!” The message was posted alongside a heart emoji.
The programme, Meghan’s first solo show for the streaming giant, entered the Netflix Top 10 in the UK and the US after it was released around the world. However, at the time of writing, the show has already fallen out of the prestigious ranking in both countries. This comes as IMDb has ranked Meghan’s show a 2.4/10 score since its release. On March 4, eight episodes of the series were released on the streaming platform. In an additional blow to the duchess, the show has received widely negative reviews from UK publications, with The Independent and The Guardian giving the Archewell Productions programme one out of five stars.
Meghan has not directly addressed the bad reviews the series has received on its launch day but has encouraged fans to “Come join the party.”
It is the first solo-project Meghan has released on the platform since signing a five-year deal with Netflix in 2020. Prince Harry released his solo series Polo in December which failed to pull in mainstream audiences, but the couple’s first Netflix show ‘Harry & Meghan’ was a success.
Despite the negative feedback, many fans of the show and Meghan expressed their excitement after viewing all eight episodes. One fan wrote: “I’m usually not into cooking /lifestyle shows but this one was absolute delight. The relaxed atmosphere and approachable recipes with beautiful scenery makes it must watch.”
Another said: “#WithLoveMeghan is such a sunny, fun show that looks gorgeous, great food and beverages, lovely tips on being a good hostess, but my favourite part was seeing her cook for/with friends and chefs!”
Sharing the trailer for the series, before the show launched, Meghan shared her excitement over the release, writing: “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it… Beyond grateful for the support – and fun! As ever, Meghan.”
Among the the friends to feature in the show are socialite Delfina Blaquier – who is Prince Harry‘s friend Nacho Figueras’s wife – and makeup artist Daniel Martin. Chefs Roy Choi and Alice Waters are also among the guests in the series.
In addition to airing the show, Netflix is now a “partner” in Meghan’s new brand, As Ever, as revealed by Meghan last week. This means that her products – including jam – will reportedly be on offer at Netflix House.
