The Daily Chart: Environmental Shakedown Doesn’t Work

One of the biggest handicaps of environmentalism has always been that it’s an elite, upper-income cause. The cliche used to be that environmentalists all drove Volvos, before they moved on to Priuses, and then Teslas, before they started hating Teslas because Musk. In any case, the environmental movement has long tried to appeal to minorities and low income communities by attempting a fusion with civil rights, in the form of “environmental justice.” The Biden Administration especially pushed this line, and designated certain urban areas for special protection under the banner of environmental justice. But it turns out the would-be clients of this solicitude didn’t buy it. Quite the opposite:

(function(d, s, id) {
var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1&appId=154257474630565”;
fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
