Aldi brings out ‘must-try’ chicken dish set to delight the masses

Aldi has announced the expansion of its “viral” Flake Bake range with new chicken patties launching this week.

This comes as over one million beef patties, created by London-based father and son duo Paul and Mike Williams, have flown off Aldi shelves.

The new Flake Bake Chicken Patties will be available in stores nationwide from March 12, retailing at 99p for a 140g pastry.

Made with “tender seasoned chicken and fiery Caribbean spices”, the patties feature Flake Bake’s “signature golden-yellow flaky pastry”.

Aldi encouraged shoppers to snap up the new addition, describing Flake Bake’s Chicken Patties as a “must-try for fans of bold, authentic flavours”.

Flake Bake made history as the first winner of Aldi’s Next Big Thing to return as a regular seasonal product rather than a one-off Specialbuy.

Indeed, when the Flake Bake Beef Patty was sold as an Aldi Specialbuy last year, customers called for it to become a “permanent” fixture.

The Flake Bake Beef Patty is available in stores now, with the New Flake Bake Chicken Patty joining the line-up in just two days.

Commenting on the beloved Flake Bake range, chief commercial Officer at Aldi UK Julie Ashfield said: “It’s incredible to see how far Mike and Paul have come since we met them on Aldi’s Next Big Thing.

“Their Flake Bake patties have been a huge success and we’re excited to expand the range with a new flavour this summer – we hope shoppers love them.”

Paul Williams, 55, and his son Mike, 34, first impressed Aldi bosses on Channel 4’s Aldi’s Next Big Thing bakery episode.

Since appearing on the show, Flake Bake has achieved several major milestones, including securing a spot in Channel 4’s Black in Business initiative and catering for the Jamaican High Commission UK.

The stars behind the beloved Jamaican patties were also named in HSBC UK’s ‘Top 25 Black Entrepreneurs to Watch’ and won ‘Best Patty’ at the UK Caribbean Food Awards.

Co-founder of Flake Bake Mike Williams commented: “It has been one year since appearing on Aldi’s Next Big Thing and the journey following the episode has been phenomenal.

“We’re thrilled to be the first brand from the show to return with a seasonal product and we can’t wait for shoppers to try our new delicious chicken flavour.”

In other Aldi news, as Britons welcome warmer weather, the supermarket has brought back its shopper favourite spa pool following “sell-out” success.
