Houthis Threaten US With Images of Flag-Draped Coffins – RedState

Merriam-Webster defines “delusional” as:

  1. Something that is falsely or delusively believed or propagated
  2. a persistent false psychotic belief regarding the self or persons or objects outside the self that is maintained despite indisputable evidence to the contrary
  3. the act of tricking or deceiving someone : the state of being deluded

The second definition would appear to apply to Yemen’s Houthis rebels, who took to X to portray a video of American-flag-draped coffins floating around what appears to be wrecked American warships.

Wow. Just… wow. Baghdad Bob has nothing on these guys.

These people live in one of the most backward, primitive places on the planet. I’ve seen a few comments floating around noting that President Trump is in the process of bombing them, and I quote, “back to the Stone Age,” but the truth is, the Stone Age would be a big leap ahead for most of these people.

The most they’ve been able to manage is to fire one surface-to-air missile at an American fighter, probably (although we don’t know) an old Soviet SA-7 or something along those lines. It missed. Because, of course, it did.

On Sunday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that U.S. airstrikes are “doing the world a favor.” He’s right.

“We’re doing the entire world a favor by getting rid of these guys and their ability to strike global shipping. That’s the mission here, and it will continue until that’s carried out,” Rubio said on “Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.”

President Trump announced the strikes Saturday, saying the U.S. would use “overwhelming lethal force” until the Houthis cease shipping attacks. U.S. Central Command confirmed the strike in a social media post Saturday, and it’s prepared to extend the campaign on the Houthis from the air and the sea for potentially weeks depending on reaction from the Houthis and Iran, a U.S. official told CBS News.

With or without support from Iran – and Iran has problems of their own – there’s very little the Houthi rebels can do to reply to the American airstrikes that are reducing their leadership cadres to flying parts. They have had some success attacking merchant vessels, which is why the United States is taking action to destroy their infrastructure – such as it is – and revoke the birth certificates of Houthi leaders. But attacking U.S. Navy warships? No warship in that area is going to let a small craft approach. We’ve learned a thing or two since the USS Cole incident, or at least, we should hope we have.

And the Navy, yes, can easily handle light watercraft when they are deemed hostile.

This propaganda, of course, is not really directed at Americans. Any American who is even remotely familiar with our capabilities finds this kind of thing giggle-inducing. No, this is aimed at their people and the rest of the people of Yemen, who don’t have many reliable sources of information. So, yes, to us, it seems delusional, but to them, it’s a sign of a leadership cadre that is beginning to realize that they have poked the bear one too many times.
