Chuck Schumer Accidentally Cuts Perfect GOP Midterms Ad in Sneering Remarks About Business Owners – RedState

In the aftermath of what some in his party have called his “betrayal” on the CR, Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has been on an image rehabilitation tour of sorts, sitting down with media friendlies in hopes of convincing angry Democrat voters (and colleagues) that he made the right decision.

At the same time, he’s also canceled book tour stops where he would potentially have to face hostile leftist protesters who have already made themselves fixtures at Schumer’s New York home.

“A spokesperson for Schumer’s book tour said that it would be rescheduled due to ‘security concerns,'” The Hill noted Monday.

On Tuesday, Schumer – who isn’t up for reelection until 2028 – made a predictable pit stop at “The View,” where the liberal co-hosts were, to paraphrase, all like “We love ya, Chuck, but how could you do this to us?”

Schumer gave an explanation that was essentially a short version of the Senate floor speech he delivered where he informed his distraught colleagues and constituents that he’d caved and why.

Except he went a little further on “The View,” engaging in crass class warfare and in the process giving the GOP the perfect “gotcha” clip to run on rotation during the 2026 midterms.

In referring to tax cuts/breaks for the so-called rich, unnamed business owners who he referred to as a “small group of greedy, wealthy people” who control the Republican Party, here’s what Schumer said in a mocking tone:

“You know what their attitude is, ‘I made my money all by myself. How dare your government take my money from me?’ I don’t want to pay taxes.

[…]

They hate government. Government is a barrier to people. A barrier to stop them from doing things. They want to destroy it and we are not letting them do it. We are united.”

It looks even worse when you see it on video. Watch:

These comments reminded me in some ways of the devastating ad the Trump campaign ran against then-Vice President Kamala Harris showing her openly expressing support for taxpayer-funded gender transition surgery for incarcerated criminals including illegal immigrants.

It so encapsulated the out-of-touch nature of the Democrat Party at a time when their identity crisis was already looming large and also at a time when they were falling out of favor big time with the segment of working-class voters who typically vote for Democrats.

Schumer’s remarks here aren’t going to do them any favors, either. And any spin on his part to clarify by saying he was only talking about “the rich” won’t work, either, because remember – even if you have merely been modestly successful as either a business owner or employee, if you are more well-off than your neighbor you are considered “rich” as far as Democrats are concerned and you must pay up to Uncle Sam accordingly.

So, just to recap, Schumer has not only ticked off just about every mover and shaker in his party (not to mention all the hacktivists), but now he’s just confirmed what Republicans have been saying for decades about Democrats on the issue of taxes and business ownership and how they love to punish success.

You’re doing just fine, Chuck. Keep right on talking, buddy.
