Boy, Tim Walz is a real piece of work. He likes to play on the “just a regular Midwestern guy” claim, but then he chokes out some woke nonsense and destroys the illusion for the literally dozens of people who were buying it.

Yeah, that was my thought as well; as a ‘tough guy,’ Tim Walz just doesn’t measure up. He is about my age, and like him, I’m carrying a little extra around the middle, but my rural lifestyle keeps me pretty robust otherwise; I’m pretty sure Tim Walz is wrong in this assessment, at least where I’m concerned.

Tim Walz may still be Governor of Minnesota (and as an old rural kid from Iowa, I could make a few cracks about Minnesota) and they’re welcome to him. But this guy is, arguably, one of the leaders of the Democratic Party right now. What does that say about him? Tim Walz, on video with the impeccably coiffed Gavin Newsom, going on like he’s an extra in “Fight Club?” Sorry, Governor, but nobody’s buying it.
This isn’t the first time Tim Walz has trodden upon a certain protruding body part.

And there are those in the ranks of the Democratic Party who are mentioning him as a 2028 presidential candidate. It’s not at all clear what would recommend him for that role. Granted he’s more mentally capable than the last Democratic inhabitant of the Oval Office, but that’s setting the bar so low that you’d have to hire a professional deep-drilling crew to find it. And basing a campaign on “I’m more alert than Joe Biden” doesn’t really seem like a winning message.
Nor does offering to engage in fisticuffs with the other side, entertaining as that might be. We might remember, that a guy who “does a lot of pheasant hunting” has difficulty loading a shotgun he claims to have owned for some time.

At the time, I offered him a lesson, but it doesn’t seem to have sunk in.
So, to Governor Walz, I will say this: Sure, Governor, you should totally run, and you should offer to meet JD Vance in the ring, as well. I suspect you’d have about as much success with one as the other.
