Former Pres. Joe Biden’s accelerating infirmities were noticeable to even the most casual observer of the political scene, going back for–pick a time period–three years? five years? longer?
Now that Biden is safely out of office, an entire new genre of “I told you so” books has sprung into existence from authors who never told us so. Today, from The Hill newspaper,
Democratic Party officials and White House staffers were well aware of former President Biden’s frailties ahead of his choice to end his ill-fated reelection bid last summer, according to exclusive excerpts of a new book released to The Hill.
“Well aware”? Really?
Because back here in Minnesota, we were told just the opposite, by some of America’s highest-ranking Democratic officials,
- “Fit for office” according to Gov. Tim Walz on July 3, 2024
- “He’s up for this job” says U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Feb. 18, 2024
- “At the very top of his game, all the way through it, both in private and in person.” comments by U.S. Sen. Tina Smith on Feb. 9, 2024
So, imagine my surprise when The Hill now tells me,
But behind closed doors, officials expressed their own anxieties about Biden’s abilities well before he took to the stage with then-candidate Donald Trump last June.
A Jake Tapper book, scheduled to be released in May, promises to cover much of the same ground. Joe Biden, the man himself, is reportedly writing a new book of his own, which I’m sure will clear up any confusion on the matter.
