Yesterday the Democrats held rallies across the country to protest against the Trump administration, and turnout in some areas was quite impressive. But what, exactly, were the Democrats protesting?
The theme of the rallies was “Hands Off.” Hands off what? Hands off Venezuelan gang members? Hands off fraudulent government subsidies to grifters? Hands off the Houthis? Hands off trying to make peace in Ukraine? What an odd slogan! In the photo below, one protester tries to fill in the blank with “hands off my money”:
That would be an appropriate theme for a Republican rally. Does this woman seriously not understand that President Trump wants to reduce government spending, and thus tax her less? Apparently not.
The Democrats’ choice of the incoherent “Hands Off” theme reflects their current rudderlessness. They know they hate Donald Trump, but they can’t quite say why. It wouldn’t do to rally in favor of wasteful spending, trillions in debt, illegal gang predators, high taxes, weakness toward our enemies and rampant corruption–which is the Democrats’ actual platform, to the extent they have one. Ergo the meaningless “Hands Off.”
