The Supreme Court’s ruling on the definition of a “woman” under the Equality Act has sparked a vicious trans row, as two activists came to blows over the verdict.
Following a challenge by campaign group For Women Scotland, Lord Hodge of the Supreme Court declared that the Equality Act 2010 refers to “a biological woman and sex”.
Debating the decision on GB News, Chair of the Women’s Policy Centre Paola Diana declared that it is a “great day” following the ruling, and argued that gender recognition certificates are “legal fiction”.
However, transgender activist Freda Wallace hit back at Diana’s remarks, claiming the move is an “attack on the equality law”.

Hailing the Supreme Court, Diana told GB News: “The Gender Recognition Act 2004 invented the gender certificate, and it’s a legal fiction, it isn’t fit for purpose. It created legal problems because it undermined the law.
“So everyone knows what a woman is – today is a great day, and I think this is the time for this Government to repeal the Gender Recognition Act, because the gender certificate has no value in law.”
Airing her view on the matter, Wallace hit back: “I think this is an attack on the equality law. I think it’s a misogynistic force, because it also affects the definition of men. It affects trans men, and nobody’s talking about that.
“This affects me personally, directly. But in my social life, in my general life, people don’t call me a woman, they just treat me as a human being.”
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Taking aim at Wallace’s remarks, Diana declared that the activist is “a man”, and it “doesn’t matter how much makeup you wear”, trans men are “still invading women’s spaces”.
Diana fumed: “I’m afraid the language he’s using is completely wrong – he is a man. Misogyny is a behaviour against women, and women are adult, human, female. So women who are born female.
“It doesn’t matter how much makeup you have on, it doesn’t matter how much plastic surgery you have, it doesn’t matter how your hair looks like – we are very happy for any man to dress as they please, but we don’t want men to start invading our spaces. The so-called trans men that I have to explain the public to understand are women identifying as men, no one is against them – but they don’t have the same problem.”
Highlighting the issue of trans men in women’s spaces further, Diana argued that any “pervert or killer” can claim they “identify as a woman” in order to access those spaces.
She added: “The gender certificate was posing a threat to women because any man, any pervert, any killer, any paedophile, any rapist could have just said, oh, I feel I’m a woman today.”

Infuriated by Diana’s argument, Wallace hit back: “I think we can all fully understand there are certain situations where sex does matter in law, but she’s aligning the word pedophile with me in a conversation, that is very dangerous.
“There are no prizes for women at the end of the gender critical movement, because it doesn’t actually support feminism, it rejects feminism. And you can you can observe that in the people that support it.”
Concluding her argument, Diana affirmed that it isn’t “about me and you”, it is about “protecting women and children” in vulnerable spaces.
She stated: “This victimhood culture, I despise this. It’s not about me and you, it’s about protecting children and women of this country – it’s about protecting the ones who are most vulnerable.
“They are always banging on about ‘poor us, poor us’, they should silence you because you can’t just shut up.”
