The details as to who was really in charge of the Biden White House may never get definitively answered. We all have our thoughts, we all have our suspicions, and the one thing I think we all agree on is this: It wasn’t Joe Biden.
As it happens, like the rest of us, President Donald Trump (I’m still not tired of typing that out) has some thoughts as well. In a recent discussion with Fox News’ Rachel Campos-Duffy, he laid out some of his suspicions.
Fox Noticias host Rachel Campos-Duffy asked Trump whether he believed Jill Biden was former President Joe Biden’s “autopen.”
“No, I don’t think so,” Trump said, but argued “she was certainly involved because he gave her the last meeting to preside over with the Cabinet.”
Trump was referring to the former first lady’s controversial attendance at one of Biden’s last Cabinet meetings in September 2024.
I don’t know about the autopen, but I do think that Frau Doktor Professor Jill had far more influence than any first lady since Edith Wilson, and she wielded that influence for much the same reason: Her husband was incapacitated. Just take a look at the former president’s recent, uh, speech on Social Security; whatever they were giving him to make him marginally coherent isn’t working very well.

President Trump believes that influence was more scattered among some “radical left lunatics.”
Trump attributed the influence on the former president to “radical left lunatics” rather than just Jill Biden.
“They [the Biden administration] had a lot of bad people. They had a lot of radical left lunatics in there, and I think he was perfect. He was perfect for them because he didn’t have a clue,” Trump said on Fox Noticias.
I think, perhaps, the president underestimates Frau Doktor Professor Jill’s influence; as he points out, she actually chaired a cabinet meeting at one point towards the end. If someone can point out where in the Constitution the first lady is given any authority to preside over any function of the executive branch, I’d like to see it, because I can’t find it anywhere – and yet, there she was, in the cabinet meeting, in an airplane “preparing” for an international meeting, and so on.
The president is correct, of course, about the former administration having a “lot of bad people.” We can judge them by their fruits, and their fruits were pretty rotten – millions of people flooding into the nation illegally, no attempt to control our borders, runaway inflation, spiking energy prices, a resurgent Iran, and more. The Biden administration was pretty much a four-year Charlie Foxtrot, and the return of Donald Trump is making most of us wonder how the nation ever let things get that bad.
Then we look at California and realize that it could be worse.
The Democrats are already trying to run away from the mess that was the Joe/Jill Biden presidency. They’ll be trying to run away from it for some time, and that’s for sure and for certain. The problem is, they’re running to the left. And it’s costing them.
As for the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, there can be no doubt whatsoever as to who’s in charge now.
