Meghan Markle reportedly gave a very telling sign to the audience about her intentions for Prince Harry during a key speech after their bombshell royal departure, a body language expert has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working royals in early 2020 and moved to the US, where they have now settled.
But in September 2022, the Duchess gave an empowered speech – her first in the UK since quitting her royal duties. Meghan spoke at the One Young World summit in Manchester, wearing a striking red ensemble by Another Tomorrow.
Her bold outfit – with its colour said to symbolise confidence and passion, according to the Mail – was followed by affectionate remarks about her husband as she praised him and expressed her delight at having it by her side.
Now, body language expert Judi James said that was a key moment for Meghan Markle. She told the Mail: “Meghan’s ‘love language’ has always been about very public verbal and non-verbal declarations of the kind of coy and gushing responses that tend to normally define the wedding stage of a relationship.
“The Duchess’ coyness rituals here are used as a nod or a knowing aside to the audience. Telling them she’s ‘thrilled’ to welcome ‘my husband’ to the summit, she performs a secretive-looking smile.”
Ms James said that Meghan’s body language was projecting her “own signals of being a woman besotted and in love”. She explained: ” When she refers to ‘my husband,’ her facial movements imply she is momentarily overwhelmed by that love.
“She pauses and her eyes close and the pause seems timed to prompt the whoops and cheers of delight from the audience. When her eyes open again they appear to flick straight to Harry, who is himself sitting in the audience.”
The Duke of Sussex recently praised his wife on her latest business ventures, saying how “proud” he is of her.
Meghan has so far launched her Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, her brand As, Ever and podcast series, Confessions of a Female Founder this year.
Harry told People: “I am so happy for my wife and fully support absolutely everything she’s done and continues to do.” He added: “I’m incredibly proud.”
