A stunning seaside town is one of the one of the best in the UK to head to for a change of scene, research has found. A recent study by My Baggage looked at key factors such as house pricing, locals’ salaries, climate conditions and more to calculate which coastal resorts are the best place to relocate to.
The popular Welsh town of Llandudno, in Conwy County Borough on the Creuddyn Peninsula, ranked fourth in the top 10 five – and with its beautiful promenade and coastal views it’s easy to see why. Llandudno, which has a population of just 19,700 as of the 2021 census, was also found to have a median annual salary of £85,050.
That was the highest among all the destinations on the list, including first-placed Margate (£32,415).
The town was also found to have an average house price of £284,945.32 and enjoy 1457.51hrs of sunlight per year on average, with 1114.68mms of rainfall.
It also has strong broadband speeds, and 10 restaurants per 1,000 residents, all of which contributed to its impressive 88.1 relocation score.
The seafront if one of the area’s crowning glories, and is also home to the its 2,295ft-long pier, the longest in Wales. And there’s even a pub overlooking the beach.
In the town centre you’ll also find a wealth of quaint shops, cafes and restaurants around every corner.
It’s also a favoured spot for wildlife lovers and hikers, with various nature reserves.
The town also sits on top of a huge network of tunnels linked to a famous Bronze Age Great Orme Mines. Visitors can now buy tickets to explore part of it to get a sense of the area’s rich history.
Above ground, there are also said to be more than 30 shipwrecks scattered across the Llandudno Bay, according to self-guided walks website Curious About.
These include the Phoenix, a warship that wrecked off the Great Orme in 1642, as per the site.
