Hamas & hate at Coachella

You may have read about the Irish group that displayed its hatred of Israel and support for “Palestine” at the popular Coachella festival this past weekend. What is to be said?

Peter Himmelman is a native of St. Louis Park, the suburb just west of the city of Minneapolis. He is a gifted songwriter and musician. He has his own site here. I’ve been a fan of Peter’s since he fronted the Sussman Lawrence group in the Twin Cities in the 1980s and wrote songs such as “Torture Me” and “I’m a Cigarette” under the influence of Elvis Costello. Since then Peter has moved out to California and pursued a successful career that draws on his gifts for music and writing.

Peter is a thoughtful man and the author, most recently, of Suspended By No String: A Songwriter’s Reflections on Faith, Aliveness, and Wonder. He is also an observant Jew and a family man.

Peter writes Morning Musings at his Substack site. He addressed the incident at Coachella, as I will tactfully call it, in his post “When ‘**** Israel’ Appears at One of America’s Most Popular Music Events.” At Blacklisted Eve Barlow has more here and here.

I turn to Peter Himmelman and Eve Barlow because attention must be paid and something needs to be said even if I don’t know what it is and even if they fall short of what needs to be said.
