Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has ordered state agencies to review and potentially boycott business with El Salvador due to its role in detaining Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
A statement from the Democrat indicates he believes this is a strong stance in support of due process for an alleged MS-13 member and suspected human trafficker.
“The United States Constitution guarantees due process. We are witnessing Donald Trump erode our fundamental Constitutional rights in real time, and we must fight to restore the balance of power,” Pritzker said.
“The State of Illinois will stand up for the Rule of Law and do everything in our power (to) stop the Trump Administration from ripping apart our most basic rights.”
WGN-9 first reported on the move, noting the “punitive actions” against El Salvador are in response to “holding Kilmar Abrego Garcia in custody.”
In short, Pritzker is drawing a line in the sand and shaking his meaty fist in defense of … a gangbanger.
Interesting hill to die on.
The US Constitution guarantees due process.
Donald Trump is eroding it in real time – we must fight back to restore the balance of power.
Today, I’m announcing a series of measures against El Salvador for aiding his unconstitutional deportation scheme. https://t.co/NN085HC8kU

While Governor Pritzker is suggesting due process across the board is his focus, there’s little doubt he is doing this in defense of Abrego Garcia, who has been the Democrat party’s cause célèbre ever since he was sent to El Salvador.
Pritzker’s posting on X got ratioed into oblivion.
“You are such a clown,” one follower replied. “Imagine believing you matter to [El Salvador President Nayib Bukele].”
“You are on the wrong side of history here, dude,” another wrote. “No one agrees with you.”
One woman chastised, “[Illinois] is in shambles, but [Governor Pritzker] is once again playing international warrior – threatening El Salvador like he’s on a diplomatic mission.”
“Might want to read the Logan Act, or at least the job description for governor.”
For those saying Kilmar Abrego Garcia didn’t receive “due process”… he absolutely DID. He got it twice actually and two immigration courts said he is to deport. He didn’t have to return to El Salvador if he was terrified to do so, but he was not welcome in the U.S. He chose not…

Due process. P’shaw. Where was your boycott of Washington, D.C. when January 6 protesters were denied due process, Governor? Where is the grandstanding in support of Israel as Hamas still holds hostages in captivity?
Oh, they don’t involve Illinois? Neither does your precious ‘Maryland man.’
Pritzker, it should be noted, did not look into boycotting Mexico when Baltazar Perez-Estrada, who illegally entered the United States from that country, murdered his wife. She lived in Carol Stream, Illinois. Perez-Estrada stabbed her dozens of times and nearly decapitated her.
Nor did he order a review of government business wth Ecuador or Venezuela when two illegal aliens from those countries were arrested in connection with the murder of George Levin in the ‘sanctuary’ of Chicago’s Norwood Park neighborhood. Levin was found bound and killed in January.
That innocent wife and man weren’t worth grandstanding for? But Abrego Garcia is?
Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left’s lies, new legislation wasn’t needed to secure our border, just a new president.
