Adam Schiff Has an Epiphany About Democrat Policies, and It’s Pathetic and Anger-Inducing – RedState

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has seen the light. During an appearance on Bill Maher’s show Friday night, the California Democrat described an interaction he had with a cashier in San Francisco. Far from receiving praise for the excellent job he’s doing, though, Schiff says the lady looked at him and said one thing: “Democrats are ***holes.”

SCHIFF: So, we’re gonna have to change how we do business in California. We’re going to have to address people’s legitimate concerns about crime. I was in South San Francisco two years ago after I had an experience in the city that all too many people have had when my luggage was stolen out of my car. They tell you to never leave your luggage in your car. I never do until the one time that I did, and of course, it got stolen, and what was most memorable about the experience for me is I went to this Target in South San Francico, 10:00 at night, and I’m getting the toiletries I’m gonna need the next two days in the city.

MAHER: You went there by yourself? Not an assistant?

SCHIFF: I think I went there, well, yes, I had someone drop me off at the store…

MAHER: I don’t mean to make that an issue (laughter)…(crosstalk)…I waded somewhere I should not have waded into.

SCHIFF: First of all, I had to get the clerk, which is hard to find, to unlock the shampoo or the whatever, so that’s one thing. Then I get to the cashier, the cashier asks me if I want one of those Target bags with the little bullseye on it, and I said, “Yes, that bag is going to be my luggage for the next two days.” And she asked me what happened, and I told her, and she basically said in not so many words, yeah, Democrats are ***holes. And I thought, you know, if the cashier in South San Francisco at 10:00 at night believes that Democrats are ***holes because the shampoo is locked up and my stuff got stolen out of the truck, we’ve got a major problem that we have to address.

What’s so astonishing about this isn’t just that Schiff obviously made that story up. It’s that he frames it as happening two years ago, yet at no point over that span do I recall him ever speaking out about the crime epidemic in cities like San Francisco, nor supporting legal changes that would be tougher on crime. It’s as if he wants credit for having this supposed epiphany while demonstrating that he took no action in response to it.

Let’s be real, though. He probably made the whole thing up just to provide some basis for his sudden care about an issue that has been plaguing his state (and blue cities across the country) for decades. Now that he’s a senator, Schiff wants to appear above the fray, but we all know who he really is, and it’s not a guy who cares about a cashier in Target. This is the same guy who spent years on end falsely claiming to have evidence of “Russian collusion.” Nothing that ever comes out of his mouth should be trusted.

I do love the implication, though, that Schiff only figured this out after he became a victim himself. When normal people were getting their stuff stolen and having to wait 15 minutes to get shampoo from behind glass, he couldn’t have cared less. Only when something allegedly impacted him directly did he realize there was an issue with Democrats and their policies.

But again, what is he proposing? Is he going to support the Trump administration’s crackdown on criminality? Is he going to go to bat for a California amendment that harshly punishes theft? Of course, not. He’s just going to say self-serving stuff for the seal claps on Maher’s show. That’s why what he said is as pathetic as it is anger-inducing. Schiff is the problem, not the solution.
