Criminosos exteros cano | Power Line

At The Scroll Adam Lehrer details the cases of the two state judges — one in New Mexico (Joel Cano, “retired” last month) and one in Wisconsin (Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan). FBI Director Kash Patel announced Judge Dugan’s arrest in the X post below. According to Lehrer’s story and other news reports, the post was subsequently deleted without explanation, but here it is (“We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest”).

Both judges are charged with crimes related to defiance of federal immigration law. Judge Dugan is charged with obstruction as set forth above. John linked to this New York Post story on her case yesterday.

Judge Cano and his wife are charged with tampering with evidence related to their allowing a member of the infamous Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang to live on their property. Lehrer includes the photo below of Judge Cano with his friends (originally published in the New York Post).

Judge Cano claims he believed all the relevant papers were in good order. He had no idea anything was amiss. A local news story adds some color to Cano’s case. NBC News has more here.

The Roman poet Virgil begins The Aeneid with his theme: “Arma virumque cano” — “I sing of arms and the man….” In honor of Judge Cano, I have changed that up to “Criminosos exteros cano” — “I sing of criminal aliens.” (My Latin is rusty, but I hope I have that right.) It should be the Democrats’ theme.

Opposing President Trump, the Democrats have touted the proposition that “no one is above the law.” As Democratic prosecutors tortured the law to pursue Trump, it didn’t really fit. However, they never missed a beat flogging that line.

If the proposition is applied to judges, as it does, they would probably have to let these cases play out. We know that is not their style. They will come up with something. Upon further analysis, they will adopt a new theme — maybe something about the separation of powers.
