Defund the Left! | Power Line

That was one of the battle cries of the Gingrich rebellion of 1994, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. While the grass roots movement of that era succeeded in many ways, it completely failed to defund the Left. On the contrary. Today, the Left is rolling in dough. This is partly because most rich people who are active in politics are on the Left, but probably more importantly, because government continues to pour many billions of dollars into liberal and far-left organizations.

Some of this has been coming to light as a result of DOGE’s efforts. In recent years, I have gotten cynical about corruption in the federal government. But I now realize, not cynical enough. American taxpayers are funneling billions and billions of dollars to groups and individuals who are working adversely to our interests. DOGE is important to improve government efficiency, but I now think it is even more important as a means to shut off the corrupt outflow of taxpayer funds to the Left.

Elon Musk made this point on the Joe Rogan show. I believe he refers to the nonprofit in which Stacey Abrams is involved:

You can read more about that particular grant here.

Many people are under the misapprehension that there isn’t much money in being a nonprofit. Nothing could be further from the truth, if you are on the Left. I have a friend who, years ago, was incensed that Bill Moyers had gotten rich as the employee of a “nonprofit” that got its revenue from other “nonprofits.” The taxpayers didn’t profit, but Moyers became a multimillionaire.

That model has now become ubiquitous, and, as Elon and many others point out, if you are a “non-governmental organization” whose revenue comes from the government, you are not a non-governmental organization. You are a covert arm of the state. And being a covert arm of the state can make you rich, if you are on the Left.
