Rasmussen finds that 72% of Democrats think we are living in a fascist dictatorship. If they really meant it, I suppose they wouldn’t bother to vote in 2026. Because you can’t vote in a fascist dictatorship, can you? So it is just the usual hysteria.
To be fair, 37% of Republicans and 47% of independents also say we are living in a fascist dictatorship. The explanation apparently lies in the question that Rasmussen asked: “Do you agree or disagree with this statement: ‘We live in a fascist dictatorship. That’s what’s happening right now. … We are in the constitutional crisis right now’?” I suppose Republicans and lots of independents think there is a constitutional crisis because of the actions of Democratic Party judges. And rule by an unelected judiciary could be described as a fascist dictatorship. So maybe that makes some kind of sense.
Speaking of the judiciary, Rasmussen also asked: “Who do you trust more to protect the rights and interests of the American people – President Donald Trump, Congress, or the federal courts?” The results: 41% President Trump, 13% Congress, and 33% the federal courts. So our system of checks and balances is working, with President Trump checking the excesses of Democratic Party judges.
