Joe Biden has been back in the news, but if he was hoping to rebuild his tarnished legacy, he is achieving the opposite result as his gaffe-filled appearances have merely reminded us of why he was not fit to be president and was forced to step down from his reelection campaign.
At his first major speech since Donald Trump took office, Biden on Tuesday began before the music stopped (which meant no one could hear him), rambled on about “colored” kids, tried to fear-monger that Trump wants to take away your Social Security—which he weirdly called a “psychic calm,” whatever that means—and joked about fraud within the program. Yes, 300-year-old people taking Social Security is a laugh riot, Joe.

It was quite the performance, but he wasn’t done. On Wednesday, he made a surprise appearance at Harvard University, where he promptly dropped his ice cream and mixed up Ukraine and Iraq.

But the reality is, many Democrats would simply like him to fade away into the sunset because every appearance he makes is a gift to the GOP and a reminder of what we don’t miss.
Former communications director for Jill Biden Michael LaRosa said Biden is hurting the Democrat party’s efforts to rebuild after the disastrous (for them) November election:
LaRosa argued former President Biden’s return was a “lovely gift for the White House, President Trump and conservative media at a time when they were playing defense and under the kind of heavy scrutiny over the botched tariff policy in ways we haven’t seen since Trump was elected.”
“Biden’s reemergence, while it changed very little in the news cycle, provided a detour for the president to distract his cadre of supporters with Biden taunts and blame, giving Fox News nearly 48 hours of fresh new programming, taking editorial aim at the former president instead of the current one,” he said.
As if proving the point, the president reminded everyone of just how terribly Ole Joe performed as commander-in-chief:

LaRosa isn’t the only Democrat urging the one-term president to go back to Rehoboth Beach:
“…it’s a bad time for Biden to reemerge and remind them of the bad old days.”
“Biden’s appearance takes the spotlight away from the incumbent’s economic malfeasance and the suffering he has caused millions of people in the last three months,” [Democratic strategist Brad] Bannon added.
Many Dems feel that they were fooled by the Great Biden Cognitive Decline Cover-Up, but frankly they have only themselves to blame because the evidence was there all along for all to see.
“The word I’m hearing a lot is ‘betrayal,’ said one Democratic strategist who still supports the former president. “People feel betrayed. And because his people held back then, it’s a lot worse now.”
It’s so bad that Biden is reportedly struggling to get speaking engagements—partially due to his unpopularity and partially due to his ridiculous fees.

Democrats are right (for a change); Biden’s appearances do remind us of the bullet we dodged and how America’s fortunes have taken a turn for the better since his departure from the White House. This is exactly why I am rooting for him (and Kamala too) to keep making as many appearances as possible.
