A much-anticipated visit by DOGE chief Elon Musk to the headquarters of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in came off as scheduled yesterday. Axios reports,
During the meeting SpaceX and Tesla CEO Musk briefed [Director John] Ratcliffe and other CIA officials about key insights from DOGE work so far at other departments and agencies.
According to Axios,
A source familiar with the meeting said the CIA has an internal DOGE team that was formed after Trump’s executive order. The team that includes CIA career officials has been working for several weeks.
CIA officials didn’t give Musk an intelligence briefing, but discussed with him “how the CIA is unique” in comparison to other government agencies, the source said.
The description of the Washington, DC, area and its political culture as “the swamp” is entirely appropriate. As a former resident of the area, and a former federal employee, I can report that the flat terrain forms a natural wetland, and its mores and customs are completely opaque.
When any swamp is drained, previously hidden objects will come into view. Here‘s the Washington Post on what DOGE is up against,
Musk’s scrutiny of the CIA could raise concerns, given the agency’s highly classified operations and staffing. Its budget, among the largest of the 18 spy agencies, is classified.
Good luck to you, sir!
