From Ilhan Omar to Letitia James

Charles Lipson is the Peter B. Ritzma Prof Emeritus at the University of Chicago and a contributor to many of the respectable publications we follow. It is gratifying to see him taking note of “The curious case of Ilhan Omar,” as I called it back in 2016 when we broke the story of Omar’s marriage to her brother on Power Line.

In the field of fraud and corruption, Omar performed the difficult task of plowing new ground. Her fraud has become a matter of common knowledge and something of a given. You’d think there would be consequences.

Professor Lipson humorously links the cases of Ilhan Omar and Letitia James. Compare and contrast: Omar actually married her brother for a fraudulent purpose. James simply claimed to have married her father for a fraudulent purpose. After all these years I’ve come to the conclusion that Omar is untouchable. James — it remains to be seen.
