Gavin Newsom Ponders Why the Democrats Lost in November, Finds Scapegoats Everywhere but in the Mirror – RedState

California Governor Gavin Newsom is continuing on his quest to prove to folks that he’s just a regular, practical guy despite his long record as one of the most extreme progressive politicians in America. As chief executive, he has overseen rampant homelessness and urban decline, an exodus of businesses and residents, and ever-higher taxes. Meanwhile—like Joe Biden—he threw out the welcome mat for illegal aliens, but he went even further and busted the budget to pay for their healthcare. Oh, and let’s not forget, he’s been viciously anti-parent with his regime endlessly pushing radical gender ideology.

Other than that, he’s been really great.

It comes off as laughable, therefore, when he puts on his thinking cap and contemplates how the Democrats could have lost the presidency in ’24, especially to their arch-enemy, Donald Trump. I can give you a hint, Gavin: toxic identity politics, corruption, an open border, incompetence in foreign affairs, a villainization of half the American populace—these are just some of the reasons voters had enough of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris et. al.

The man who some call “Gov. Hair Gel” was reflective about the party’s failures—but notice how he never points his finger at himself for being the poster boy of much of what infects the Democrats. Notice also how he attempts to distance himself from radical Dems, even though he is one, presumably to position himself for a future presidential run (emphasis mine):

In an exclusive sit-down interview with The Hill on Monday, Newsom said that if the party wants to find its way back from the wilderness, it has to be willing to look inward at what led to the losses — and the failure to win back the House majority.

“We have not done a forensic of what just went wrong, period, full stop,” Newsom said. “I don’t think it, I know it. I mean, to the extent that I’m marginally part of this party, I represent the state larger than 21 state populations combined, and I can assure you there’s not been a party discussion that I’m aware of that has included the state of California.”

Later in the interview, Newsom said he wasn’t sure what the Democratic Party truly represents, who is leading it or where it wants to go.

“I don’t know what the party is,” he said. “I’m still struggling with that.”

You don’t know what the party is? It’s what you and your fellow divisive progressives made it.

Newsom is also incorrect that a “forensic analysis” has not been done. Tune in to CNN or MSNBC on any given night, Governor, and you’ll find pundits endlessly dissecting every facet of the election. On and on they ramble, and blame and deflect, but the one thing they can never seem to grasp: voters got turned off because they finally realized that progressive policies suck.

Let’s hope they remember that lesson in ’28.

Editor’s Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.
