Part of the M25 has been closed following a tanker fire, triggering six miles of traffic congestion for motorists during the busy morning rush hour.
Two lanes of the UK’s busiest motorway have been closed this morning, with three fire engines at the scene. The incident occurred on the M25 anticlockwise between Junction 8 for A217 (Reigate) and Junction 7 for M23.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: “Queueing traffic for two miles and two lanes closed due to lorry fire on M25 anticlockwise from J8 A217 (Reigate) to J7 M23.
“Congestion to onlookers opposite too. Three fire engines are attending to a tanker in lanes one and two (of four), after a short hold to put cones out.”
