No, really, it happened! The full headline from The Hill reads,
Maher rails against NPR CEO, calls for public media funding cuts.
I don’t watch the show very often, but it seems every Saturday after HBO airs a new episode of liberal Bill Maher’s show Real Time on Friday night, my timeline fills with Maher’s latest crimes against the liberal orthodoxy.
This week the show’s host went after the sacred cow of state-funded media and the (unrelated) NPR CEO who shares his last name. The Hill quotes the HBO host,
I also read my namesake, Katherine Maher — head of NPR — and, you know, she said, ‘We’re completely unbiased.’ Give me a break, lady.
Bill Maher didn’t stop there,
I mean, they’re crazy far-left. So, I mean, I think we’re past, my view, we’re past the age really, where the government, first of all, why do we need to subsidize — why can’t we have outlets like this and we’re so polarized.
In these now weekly departures from the party line, I’m always curious to hear what the instant reactions from Bill Maher’s in-studio panelists are to his latest “shocking” pronouncements.
I turn to the UK Daily Mail, who reports,
McWhorter agreed that the publication shouldn’t be federally funded and joked that even his nine-year-old daughter noticed that NPR consistently reports ‘the same thing.’
That New York Times? Will miracles never cease?
