The visit by the Italian Prime Minister (PM) Giorgia Meloni to the Trump White House is getting a tremendous amount of media coverage, as it should. I hope that these nation-to-nation meetings continue and continue to be productive.
Here’s one statement by Meloni I hope gets wider attention. From the BBC,
In her statement at the start of the Q&A, Meloni is clearly pushing all the right buttons – telling Trump that her goal is “to make the west great again”, criticizing “woke ideology” and championing the “war against illegal migration”.
In my not very original opinion, transnational organizations such as the UN, EU, NATO, WTO, WEF, etc. inevitably get captured by insider “elites” with little regard for the best interests of the member states, much less their citizens.
I have greater hope for these bilateral efforts.
