‘Maryland Dad’ Deserves to Be Deported. Biden Deserves the Blame

If you’ve been paying any attention to the legacy media in recent days, you’ll notice they are almost fanatically obsessed with the idea that the deportation of an El Salvadorian national back to his home country is the end of the rule of law in America.

The case concerns Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 gang member who had been residing in Maryland and was deported by the Trump administration to his home country of El Salvador where he is reportedly in a harsh prison.

Much ink has been spilled about the case of this “Maryland dad,” too much ink. But one more point needs to be added.

Democrats and the legacy media have ultimately leaned their case on “due process,” even though the reason the illegal immigration issue is so complicated and monumental in scope is because of their own willing, flagrant disregard for American immigration laws.

Sure, they’ve also tried to make Abrego Garcia seem like the world’s best dad, a humble Maryland “resident” who was just minding his own business when he got scooped up by the fascist Trump administration, but it’s unlikely Americans are buying that.

The legacy media can’t control national narratives as they once did. There’s now far too much information available about the case to accept the line Abrego Garcia was just a well-meaning, law-abiding noncitizen. Authorities had good reason to suspect he was a part of the notorious MS-13 gang. According to DOJ documents released Wednesday, he held the MS-13 rank “Chequeo” and had the street name “Chele.”

When Abrego Garcia was arrested in Prince George’s County, hardly MAGA country, he was with two known members of MS-13 and had rolls of cash and drugs. The reason the immigration court gave in 2019 for why he couldn’t be deported back to his home country of El Salvador is because he was threatened by MS-13’s rival gang Barrio-18.

It’s also come to light that Abrego Garcia’s wife, Jennifer Vazquez Sura, has accused him of domestic violence. In 2021 she filed a restraining order against him alleging that he physically assaulted her.

“At this point I am afraid to be close to him,” Vasquez Sura said in court documents. “I have multiple photos/videos of how [violent] he can be.”

That doesn’t seem to conform to Sura’s current story that Abrego Garcia has “always been a loving partner and father.”

Did he turn his life around or is she being coached by immigration activists? I’m not sure, maybe he did turn his life around, but the new story is certainly convenient. It also doesn’t make up for the fact that he illegally came into the United States and broke our laws.

Given Abrego Garcia’s troubled personal record, his Democrat advocates are ultimately going with the due process angle.

But the procedural issue at stake is not whether he’s subject to deportation. He obviously is. It’s about whether he was supposed to be sent to El Salvador specifically.

Now let’s say for a moment that all the people hyperventilating about due process right now are correct that the Trump administration wrongly deported Abrego Garcia to the wrong country. Is this not, by comparison, the smallest of potatoes compared to the millions of people who were allowed to illegally cross our border, make bogus asylum claims, and threaten American citizens?

I understand the principle of letting guilty people walk free rather than prosecuting an innocent man, but in this case, Abrego Garcia isn’t innocent. He broke American laws by coming to this country illegally. That’s just a fact.

Again, if Garcia is returned to the U.S. he could be rightly deported immediately. All this hubbub is about an administrative error that unfortunately is likely to happen given the scale of the problem we now face due to the Biden administration’s complete lawlessness.

There are now undoubtedly countless cases like Abrego Garcia given the flood of illegal arrivals and bogus asylum seekers since Jan. 20, 2021, the day President Joe Biden took office.

Where were these hordes of “due process” defenders when Biden was making an absolute mockery of the rule of law and flooding the country with criminals and complex cases? The very reason we have border security is to vet people like Abrego Garcia, to do the due diligence to ensure that we aren’t bringing criminals into the country.

Now these numerous and sometimes difficult cases must be sorted out by states, local communities, and the federal government on a massive scale.

If Abrego Garcia really was “wrongly” deported to the incorrect country I hope the Trump administration will rectify the situation and deport him again. The White House has made clear this will happen. But it’s hard to get worked up about their handling of the situation given the absolute mess they were handed by an administration that spent four years intentionally undermining U.S. immigration law at every opportunity.

So I don’t think most Americans will buy the end of due process line either. Deporting all illegal immigrants is popular with most Americans according to the latest CNN poll. This is what the American people elected Trump to do, fix Biden’s mess.
