Return to Guatemala | Power Line

It seems that the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) finally located a self-deporting illegal immigrant. He’s not mentioned by name, but reportedly decamped for Guatemala, interrupting his efforts “toward achieving his version of the American dream.” The AJC’s headline,

Why some Georgia immigrants self-deport: ‘I’m not going to live in fear’

The Trump administration is pushing immigrants who are in the country illegally to self-deport, and some in metro Atlanta are heeding the message.

Some? The AJC could only locate the one, the rest were just unverified rumors. Still, the AJC managed to outdo the Los Angeles Times, who couldn’t find a single one.

I honestly don’t get the “living in fear” bit. Thanks to the U.S. judicial branch’s interventions, it does not appear that another deportation will be allowed to occur during Trump’s second term, if ever. It seems as though if you are here already, you’re good.

Even in the unlikely event you are sent back, hordes of Congresspeople stand ready to go bring you back. From Politico,

House Dems travel to El Salvador to secure Maryland man’s return.

More Democrats are making the trip abroad to raise awareness for what they call a “constitutional crisis” surrounding Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s deportation.

Where the U.S. Senator couldn’t succeed, House Democrats vow they will complete the mission. Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-OR) posts on Twitter (X),

I am in El Salvador because I will not stand by while our country is thrown into a constitutional crisis. This is a moment to act. I will not rest until due process is upheld for all.

I do hope that she sees this through to the end. But I am curious, when will actual American citizens get a turn at this “due process” thing?

Tens of millions of illegal immigrants, including Mr. Garcia, entered America while bypassing “due process” along the way. Now that it’s time to be returned, Garcia and the others get unlimited due process, at taxpayer expense. Due process to the point where the U.S. Supreme Court issues 1 a.m. orders without even listening to the other side.

But I’m a generous and grateful taxpayer, Rep. Garcia, have a margarita on me while you wait.
