These Are the Judges Making New York City More Dangerous – RedState

There was a time when many people, had they been asked to name the one city that would be the world’s capital, would have answered “New York.” For generations, the Big Apple was a global center of business, finance, and culture. People came from around the world to see shows on Broadway, look up and marvel at the Empire State Building, browse through New York’s stores, and sample the fine restaurants.

New York now seems a perfect example of a city in decline. The streets are not safe, day or night, and a big part of the reason for that can be laid at the feet of “woke” judges who keep putting criminal goblins back out on the streets. A Saturday New York Post exclusive called some of those judges out.

Here are some of the judges who are making New York a more dangerous place to be:

One of the city’s most egregious practitioners of this junk justice is Queens Criminal Court Judge Wanda Licitra, who only set bail five times and had no suspects held in pretrial detention in 34 violent felony cases spanning January to June 2024, the latest available data.

Licitra even set loose a feces fiend accused of smashing poop into a straphanger’s face on a subway platform — who cursed her out in court to boot.

“Judges like that, we call them judges who drink the Kool Aid, because instead of them focusing on the actual situation, they’re drinking the Kool Aid of bail reform,” one veteran criminal defense attorney who has repeatedly gone before Licitra told The Post.

Here’s another, Judge Valentina Morales of the Manhattan Criminal Court, who seems to love putting thugs back out on the street:

Between January and June 2024, (Judge Valentina) Morales let 83 alleged violent felons out of 101 walk without bail, including recidivist vagrant Eric Taylor, who already had been convicted on two felony charges and nearly two dozen misdemeanors.

Taylor had been charged with bail-eligible felony assault for allegedly throwing a shopping bag filled with heavy objects at a 24-year-old woman walking to work in Union Square in January 2024, leaving her with a black eye, a cut above her eyebrow, and a concussion.

Morales also previously set Venezuelan migrant Walter Almachi Leal free without bail in October 2023 after he allegedly slashed a man’s arm with a broken beer bottle in Times Square. The alleged victim needed 20 stitches for his injuries.

And a third, Judge Marva Brown, again of the Manhattan Criminal Court, has released 54 out of 87 accused violent felons to come before his court:

(Judge Marva) Brown has only been on the bench for 14 months, but in that short tenure has sprung at least 54 violent maniacs – a number of whom have reoffended.

The ex-Legal Aid attorney, was elected to Brooklyn Civil Court in November 2023 but has overseen Manhattan criminal cases, infamously let loose Amira Hunter without bail after she was caught on camera bashing a subway cellist over the head with a metal water bottle in February 2024.

Weeks later, Hunter was nabbed for allegedly shoplifting at Nordstrom in midtown.

Earlier this year, she also sprang a subway nutter on a bail-eligible sexual abuse charge — only for the psycho to allegedly push an unsuspecting rider into a moving train at a Washington Heights station.

For every goblin set back out on the streets by these “woke” judges, there will be more victims, more people who have been attacked, robbed, or worse, while simply trying to go about their daily business. Police are (rightly) held accountable for their actions when they are negligent or incompetent or commit deliberate malfeasance. Why not judges?

These judges, we should note, almost certainly are insulated from the consequences of their decisions. They likely live in secure buildings, and it’s a safe bet they aren’t riding the city’s subways or buses. What they are doing is allowing dangerous criminals, some of whom have been actually caught in the act, to go back out on the streets to re-offend. These judges have installed the infamous revolving door in their courtrooms, and New Yorkers are paying the price.

Here’s the Post’s entire list. These are the people who are, in the name of “woke” sensibilities, making New York a more dangerous place.

This will continue until these judges are removed from the bench; they have clearly shown they cannot be trusted with the responsibility New York has placed on them. Surely, in New York City, the people who have suffered under these judges can find a rail to ride them out of town on.
