Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins tangled with CNN’s Jake Tapper in an oftentimes tense interview on Sunday regarding tariffs. The exchange led to Rollins laughing derisively at one point as the host attempted to argue that he was not part of the left-wing mainstream media.
Tapper led off the segment by stating the “State of the Union” is a bit rattled due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs, which he describes as a “fundamental shift in the global financial order.”
The CNN anchor continued slamming the tariff plan, mocking the president for not panicking over the matter, which he clearly is.
Rollins came armed for bear, considering the argument’s already negative framing. She noted that Tapper was basing his freak-out on precisely two days’ worth of data, leading to this amusing back-and-forth.
“I think it’s really important to realize that last Wednesday was when the president announced this new American order, the new American economic plan,” Rollins said. “We’re now two days in, right? You’ve got two days of data. Everyone, especially on your side — on the left — is freaking out.”
“I’m not on the left,” Tapper interjected.
“But at the end of the day, listen, this whole concept,” Rollins began before the audio caught up, and she realized what Tapper had just tried to claim with a straight face.
“All right, Jake, thank you,” she said, laughing.

Tapper can claim whatever he wants and often does.
This is the same man who blasted Lara Trump for pointing out Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. He was so adamant about it that he suggested Trump was mocking Biden’s stutter, not the fact that, ya know, he didn’t have the mental capacity to tie his own shoes.
Tapper is also the same clown who referred to the January 6th protesters as a “terrorist MAGA mob.” A man who spent years legitimizing the Russia collusion hoax. A self-proclaimed journalist who initially refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop story.

Jake is most assuredly on the left.
Rollins went on to explain the concept behind Trump’s tariffs. Slowly, so as to not confuse the anchor.
“This whole concept is about rebuilding an American economy around American goods, around American industry,” she said. “We do already live under a tariff regime in this country, but it’s the tariff regime of China, of Mexico, of Brazil, of Australia, of countries that — Mexico won’t take our corn, Australia won’t take our beef.”
Tapper ran defense for these other countries by suggesting the European Union wouldn’t take American beef and pork due to hormones used in the products. Which he presented as a final word before pivoting to another question. Rollins wasn’t letting it slide.
“Wait! Hold on, Jake! No, no, no!” she said. “Here’s the bottom line: They are using fake science and unsubstantiated claims to not take our products.”
“So it isn’t just that they have high tariffs – thank you for making this point for me – I meant to make it.”
“It’s the way they’ve treated our products,” Rollins added. “‘Oh, sorry, we can’t take your beef since 2002 because you use a certain type of feed.’ That’s absolute bull. Our farmers and ranchers produce the safest, most secure, and best food in the world!”

Tapper taking the word of the European Union over the current administration is on brand. And yet another example that he is, in fact, on the left. Watching him have things explained as he makes that Droopy Dog face meant to portray himself as inquisitive and always thoughtful is entertainment at its finest.
Jake’s new book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” will be published in May.
It promises to expose the cover-up behind Biden’s mental decline. The cover-up he had a hand in promoting. Thankfully, Rollins was able to point out that Tapper is in denial about being on the left.
Knowing is half the battle, Jake.
