Travis Kelce subtly reacts to racy Taylor Swift lyrics reportedly based on lovers’ personal life

Travis Kelce has subtly acknowledged a connection to one of Taylor Swift’s songs during the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast.

The Kansas City Chiefs star revealed he watched the film “American Pie” when he was around 10 years old, without his parents’ knowledge.

Eagle-eyed fans immediately spotted the reference to Swift’s song “So High School” from her album “The Tortured Poets Department,” which includes the lyric “I’m watching American Pie with you on a Saturday night.”

The revelation adds another layer to the couple’s relationship that Swifties are eagerly dissecting.

During the podcast with his brother Jason Kelce on Wednesday, Travis discussed his early movie-watching experiences.

“The one I remember watching that I didn’t even realize was rated R was American Pie, and that was when we were, like, 10,” Kelce said.

Jason noted their parents wouldn’t have approved of such viewing.

“I forget how I got in,” Travis continued. “I might have been there with someone else’s parents.”

The NFL star didn’t directly mention Swift during this conversation, keeping the reference subtle.

Swift’s “So High School” has been widely interpreted by fans as being about her relationship with Kelce.

The song includes the specific reference to watching “American Pie,” which now appears to be a nod to Kelce’s childhood experience.

Swifties quickly made the connection on social media after the podcast aired.

Many fans believe other lyrics in the track also reference Kelce, including “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle,” acknowledging his football career.

The song also mentions a “marry, kiss, or kill” game, which some fans connect to a 2016 video where Kelce played that game and mentioned Swift.

This isn’t the first time Kelce has shown appreciation for “So High School.”

In an interview with People Magazine in May 2024, Kelce revealed it was his favorite track from Swift’s latest album.

“I might be a little biased toward The Tortured Poets Department, just a little bit,” he told Access Hollywood at his Kelce Jam festival in Kansas City.

When asked which song he’d want Swift to hypothetically perform at his event, he didn’t hesitate.

“So High School might be the only one that’s just jumping into my mind right now,” he said.

The star-studded couple has been dating since summer 2023, with their relationship capturing public attention.

This latest revelation about “American Pie” demonstrates how Swift weaves personal details into her songwriting.

While Kelce didn’t explicitly connect his childhood movie experience to Swift’s lyrics, the timing of his anecdote seems deliberate.

Fans continue to analyze Swift’s album for references to their relationship, with “So High School” standing out as a track that Kelce himself has embraced.

The subtle nod adds another chapter to their very public romance that continues to fascinate fans.
