Trump Admin is ‘All Hands on Deck’ for Making Food Safer

The Trump administration is “all hands on deck” to ensure the food in the supply chain is “safe and healthy,” Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins told The Daily Signal.

“The bottom line is this: we have to make sure that the food that we’re putting into the supply chain is safe, and it is healthy for our people and, frankly, for the world,” Rollins said. “But we also have to make sure that America, through food security, can provide and be the most secure nationally in the world.”

“And we can’t do that without a very robust, abundant food supply,” Rollins continued, “so finding that balance is key and a priority, and we keep working toward that.”

At the direction of President Donald Trump, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, and Rollins are working to make sure the food supply is safe, according to Rollins.

Rollins said she and Kennedy are going to Texas in the near future to shine a light on healthier school lunches. The agriculture secretary is “excited” about making lunches healthier and said Kennedy is a great partner.

“As the mom of four kids, this is very important to me, but also as the Secretary of Agriculture,” Rollins said. “I think as we’re moving toward a more nutritious school lunch program, what that means is more locally sourced, small family farms that are local to the area getting food into the kitchen of these schools.”
