Trump’s support endures | Power Line

Pres. Donald Trump’s job approval ratings stay above 50 percent, despite (or because of?) constant attacks in the media.

I consume a lot of media in the course of my day job. So, I was mildly surprised to discover how robust the President’s job approval numbers are, so far. Rasmussen Reports still does a daily poll, and today’s figure has Trump at 51 percent approval. In fact, at no point since his second term began in January has Trump’s approval level fallen below 50 percent.

RealClearPolitics’ poll of polls tells the same story, where Trump is about breakeven.

This result stands in sharp contrast to the first Trump term, where his approval rating was always below water, and his first year in office (2017) saw the lowest levels. At this date in 20i7, Trump’s net job approval rating stood at -9.

Perhaps my specific problem is that I consume too much Minnesota media. The state’s biggest new outlet, the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper, has been working hard of late to push a narrative of a widespread and growing grassroots opposition to the President and his agenda.

Last week, John’s organization, the Center of the American Experiment, hosted a public event featuring as guest speaker a Minnesota Republican Congresswoman, Michelle Fischbach. It was not a “town hall” event per se, and the meeting took place some 200 miles from the Star Tribune‘s offices, but the outlet managed to put out not one, but two stories on this one event.

Today’s edition of the Star Tribune features a story on an alleged growing highway overpass anti-Trump protest movement. They write,

Sixty days into the second Trump administration, pedestrian bridges have become neighborhood gatherings for some who oppose the president — and want to scream about it.

Scream away, it doesn’t seem to be working. In fact, in the course of a week, I drive all over the highway system here in the Metro area, and have yet to encounter the phenomenon. Perhaps I need to look up more often.
