For Britons planning a visit to the UAE, visitors have been alerted to the latest entry requirements.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice regarding visas and their length of validity.
Britons can receive free visitor or tourist visas upon arrival in the UAE; they do not need to apply in advance of travel.
Visitors’ passports will be stamped with the visa as they go through immigration.

Visitor or tourist visas are valid for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, which will begin from the date of first entry into the UAE.
The stay can be either continuous or divided across multiple visits, as long as the total duration does not exceed 90 days within the 180-day timeframe.
Britons should be aware of potential penalties for overstaying their visa allowance.
“You could face fines for exceeding your authorised stay, which may accumulate for each day of overstay,” the FCDO warned.
Visitors should carefully monitor their stay duration to avoid these financial penalties.
For those wishing to extend their stay beyond the 90-day limit, options are available.
The FCDO advised Britons to contact the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs for Dubai extensions.
For the rest of the UAE, visitors should contact the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
The UAE is a popular tourist destination, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi attracting the majority of holidaymakers. Indeed, Dubai secured the third spot in TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best 2025, which celebrates the “highest level of excellence in travel”.
Dubai, the UAE’s most populous city, “mixes modern culture with history”. Its tourist delights include desert “thrills”, “world-class” shopping and entertainment, and vibrant souks. Visitors can also marvel and eye-catching landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa.
