An urgent manhunt has been launched after a convicted killer escaped a Scottish jail.
Raymond McCourt, 59, was convicted of murder after he shot newsagent Khalil Mahmood in the head in 1993, shooting two others in the same incident.
The 27-year-old also shot a woman and police officer in the same incident.
He was subsequently handed a life sentence for murder, attempted murder, assault and robbery, assault and robbery, assault to severe injury and firearms offences.

The fugitive was reported missing from HMP Castle Huntly, near Dundee, at 5.30pm yesterday afternoon.
He has been described as being 6ft 2ins tall, stocky build with short grey hair and beard and has reduced mobility.
The gunman was last known to be wearing a long black trench coat, grey dress trousers, a grey waistcoat, blue shirt with a red and white tie and brown shoes.
Police have instructed members of the public to not approach McCourt.

Officials have revealed that he “has connections to the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas”.
McCourt is known to use public transport, the police added.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesman said: “I can confirm this individual is currently unlawfully at large and we are working with Police Scotland to return him to custody.”
Police have requested that any sightings or information are reported to officers via 101, quoting reference 2857 of April 22, 2025.

The convict had previously been released from jail 10 years ago but returned within the year since he “struggled to cope” with life outside the open prison.
After spending just weeks outside HMP Castle Huntly, he admitted to stealing and selling off iitems.
