Virgin Media has unlocked a wealth of blockbuster movies, documentaries, and concert films in crisp ultra-high definition for viewers nationwide. But there’s not long left to take advantage of this generous giveaway.
Virgin TV UHD channel is available to watch for free on millions of set-top boxes across the UK. As the name suggests, the channel broadcasts in 4K UHD picture quality, offering four times as many pixels as 1080p HD.

Virgin Media first unlocked its Virgin TV UHD channel on April 5. The free upgrade is scheduled to end at 11.59pm on April 21, 2025. If you want to stream everything included on the channel — there’s not long left to take advantage of the free gift.

Virgin TV UHD channel broadcasts 24/7, but everything shown on the channel will also be available on-demand. So, if you’ve missed your favourite movie or show, you can start watching whenever is most convenient for you.
You can also watch on a tablet or phone in the house with the Virgin TV Anywhere app.
In the last few days, Virgin TV UHD has shown blockbusters like science-fiction thriller Elysium from District 9 creator Neill Blomkamp, Will Smith-fronted comedy-drama Hitch, Academy Award-winning As Good As It Gets starring Jack Nicholson, and thriller Passengers with Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt.
The channel is also the place to catch The World’s Most Remote Hotels, exploring Hotel Budir in Iceland, as well as Great Barrier Reef: A Living Treasure narrated by Russell Crowe. If you’d rather see a concert than watch a film, Pet Shop Boys: Inner Sanctum shows this incredible gig in its entirety filmed live at the Royal Opera House.

When the free upgrade ends on April 21, Virgin TV Ultra HD will only be available to subscribers with a Mix, Maxit, MegaTV or Essential Entertainment package with a compatible television and our Virgin TV V6 box.
Cobra Kai and Elysium will both be broadcast in crisp 4K Ultra HD quality on Virgin TV Ultra HD channel in April, when the channel is available at no cost to existing Virgin Media TV viewers

TNT Sports Ultimate is an ultra HD channel, available to TNT Sports subscribers at no extra cost on Channel 525. Sky Sports costs an extra £7 per month to add Ultra HD picture quality to its entire lineup.
You can also watch TV in Ultra HD quality shows, films, and sport in supported apps, like Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, as well as BBC iPlayer and YouTube. Some of these require an additional subscription tier to unlock the format.
