In my comments on the Goldberg variations yesterday I expressed the thought that Trump national security adviser Michael Waltz had some ‘splaining to do, as Ricky Ricardo used to put it on I Love Lucy. Laura Ingraham sought the explanation in an extremely interesting segment with Waltz yesterday. As I understand what he said, Waltz doesn’t have the answer. He doesn’t know how it happened. He is in search of the explanation.
I hope he finds it, both because of the national security implications and because Goldberg is the wrong guy to “gift” with a story undermining the Trump administration. Goldberg was a journalistic servant of Barack Obama and a prototypical source of fake news in the first Trump administration. I thankfully lost track of him during the geriatric years of the Biden administration. This story revives his incredibly grating visibility.
