While AOC Campaigns Against ‘Oligarchy,’ Her District Is in Chaos – RedState

While Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is buzzing around the country in a plush private jet, accompanied by the daffy old Bolshevik from Vermont on the ironically-named “Fight Oligarchy” tour, her Queens, New York, district is descending into chaos. She has been conspicuous by her absence. Now, residents and business owners on Roosevelt Avenue are asking the feds for help.

They’ve even written directly to FBI Director Kash Patel to seek aid:

As Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., privately jets across the nation for her “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, residents in her Queens constituency have been calling on the FBI and the DEA to help them crack down on the illegal sex workers and drug dealers that they say have turned their neighborhood into a festering “gangland.”

Last week, local leaders, including a former Democrat state senator, wrote to FBI Director Kash Patel urging him to unleash agents to quell the raging problem along Roosevelt Avenue – a 2-mile commercial strip which has been likened to both a Third World Country and a Red Light district – where scantily-clad women on sidewalks soliciting sex is commonplace.

They also claim the ruthless 18th Street Gang has taken over illegal operations there, filling the void of other gangs like with Tren de Aragua after a massive police operation saw hundreds of people arrested.

There was a crackdown by local authorities, which began last October and lasted several weeks. But, like cockroaches, the gang members and their minions just disappeared into the shadows, only to reappear once the crackdown ended. And, like cockroaches, they came back in force:

They (locals) said that the gangs have turned the two-mile seedy strip into a “well-oiled criminal machine” using Roosevelt Avenue as its marketplace. “Roosevelt Avenue doesn’t just have a gang problem. It has become gangland.”

The NYPD did not confirm the locals’ claims about gangs operating in the area.

Well, if you take a quick look at the photos in the linked articles, you’ll see plenty of gang-related graffiti. And then there’s this report:

Now, to be fair, this is primarily a problem for local authorities. But the local authorities don’t seem to be able to get a grip on this situation, which has led the people of Roosevelt Avenue to turn to the federal government for help, and at this point, you would think that the people’s Congressional representative would, in some way, want to become involved.

But AOC? She is out in the countryside thumping the tub about “oligarchy.”

The government has only one legitimate, overarching purpose: To protect the liberty and property of the people. The City of New York has failed to do this for the people of Roosevelt Avenue. The State of New York has likewise failed. Now the people of this district are, as is their constitutional right, petitioning the federal government for a redress of their grievances, and it’s a safe bet Kash Patel is listening. But their Congressional representative? Oh, she plans a town hall in the neighborhood on Saturday. Talk about a pedestrian effort.

And, of course:

Cortez has yet to respond to multiple Fox News Digital requests for comment regarding the situation along Roosevelt Avenue.

You don’t say.
